1) How long does installation take?
We normally start and finish each installation within one business day. Some installations may take longer if additional information or server work is required.
2) Is my music protected?
We use a number of techniques available to the average web hosting server. Since we do not use secure streaming servers, it may be possible to download tracks or capture tracks, but we have gone to great lengths to protect your music without adding any monthly costs. In short: files are protected, but like every other method of sending promotional materials, there is no way to truly protect them from leaking. If you want to protect real versions of your music, we suggest sabotaging it with an overlay track, such as "you are listening to the ____ promo player".
3) How large can file uploads be?
This depends completely on your server. PHP has limitations on upload sizes and post sizes. When completing your installation we will attempt to increase these limits above 100MB. In the event that your server is not allowing file uploads large enough, we have a workaround in our usage doc.
4) Which parts are customizable?
The vast majority of the customer area is not protected by Ioncube and can be edited. The markup is separated from the style, so most changes can be made through CSS files.
5) Is this open source software?
No, non-customizable files are encoded.
6) Is there a discount for self installation?
No, the license includes free installation because we want to ensure a secure and proper installation. Since it is considered free and as a part of the license, there is no discount.
7) What technical knowledge is required?
The admin section requires little to no technical knowledge, it is purely web based and uses simple forms. There would be some technical knowledge required in creating your tracks and resizing images, where you would need to rip mp3s (you can use iTunes for this). Simple customizations can be done with the settings file and do not require any technical knowledge other than accessing and overwriting the file (usually through FTP). Deeper customizations would require knowledge of HTML, CSS, etc.
8) What if installation cannot be completed?
If installation cannot be completed, presumably because your server cannot support the software, a refund will be issued. The refund option is not available for self installations since we cannot retract your license.
